Why do you call yourselves Agents?
Because we can. You know you want an "Agent" name.
Why are the details of the missions such
a big fat secret until the day of?
It is not that we like to keep things a secret but... ok - so we do. With our
member list growing so large, if we sent out an email with all the information,
word would eventually hit the street. The point of Scene Diego is to catch people
off guard. This would defeat the purpose of all the planning we put into the
missions, and not to mention dragging all our Agent's away from mowing the lawn,
cleaning the house, and finishing up spread sheets for work the next day. We
don't want the press to show up and blow our cover either. And some of the missions
we hit up shopping malls - we do not want Security to know we are coming or
they would probably stop us before we got in the door.
I am visiting San Diego, will you
have a mission when I am in town?
Missions are posted on our "Missions" page 1-2 weeks
in advance. That is really all the info we would have for you at this time.
You could plan your trip around our missions though! Ok... maybe not.
What ages are allowed to participate in Scene Diego
missions?
We encourage people of all ages to come out to play. Yes, you
can bring your child/children. Unless clearly specified in the details of an
upcoming mission, we aim to keep all missions child-friendly. If you are under
the age of 18, we just ask that you come with a Parent. If you are over the
age of 100, we'd like to know what your secret to a long life is.
How and when did Scene Diego start?
Scene Diego was inspired by Improv
Everywhere in NYC. In January 2008, Agent Neil stumbled across a few videos
from Improv Everywhere. Wanting to start a similar group, he joined IE Global
and started the San Diego group, soon to be officially called "Scene Diego."
Starting with only 7 Agents, the group now has several hundred Agents on stand-by
waiting for the next mission. Agent Neil works closely with a few key Agents
on planning the missions.
Do you ever run into problems with
the Police?
We never do anything illegal, or that could potentially cause harm to anybody
or anything. Occasionally we break store policies (filming on private property)
but never anything that we would intentionally do to get anybody into any kind
of trouble. If you watch the video from Banana Phone you can see our mascot
being escorted out of the mall by security. This was primarily because they
thought he was "soliciting bananas."
How do I find out about new missions?
Join our website by clicking
"Join" to the right. We will send you a text message or email when
we have information for you. But don't worry, we will not redistribute your
email address.
How do I stop receiving emails
and/or text messages?
If you want to stop receiving text messages (they do cost some of us a few cents)
simply reply right away with "please remove" to our message. You will
be removed immediately. Due to the inexpensive method we send messages, it is
virtually impossible to find your phone number in a list of hundreds of other
numbers. So it is best to do it as soon as you get the message. If you want
to remove or change your email address, please send us
a message and let us know.
I have an idea for a mission, how
do I submit it?
You can submit it to us by sending us a message.
At this point we have probably a good 100 ideas (at least) that we have put
on hold until we have more time to develop them. There would be no harm in sending
another one in though - a lot of our mission ideas came from our Agents. There
are however, a list of ideas we get all the time. At some point we should really
list them on here!
Me wants Scene Diego merchandise
- do you have any?
This is something we are working on right now. We are in the process of designing
some rad t-shirts, buttons, stickers and a lot more and will be available in
our store shortly. If you have an idea for something
you would like to see, or an idea for a t-shirt design, let us know. If you
come up with a t-shirt concept that we end up using, we will give you one from
the first run!
Who pays for props, website hosting,
business cards, and other expenses?
As of right now, Agent Neil covers the costs. This
is why we are opening the store - to help offset some of the expenses and so
we will be able to rent special equipment if need be. You can also make a small
donation to Scene Diego if you would like. All these funds raised go right into
a bank account set up specifically for Scene Diego. Unfortunately these donations
are not tax-deductable.
I am hosting a party, or a company
event. Will you come out and do a staged scene?
Ya we can do that, and are planning one right now. Please contact
us and we can discuss the details - we usually ask for a donation in return.
I did not find an answer to my
question - is there a person at the other end of this website?
Yes, there is. You can contact us and somebody will be happy to help you out.
Just remember, it may take us a day or so to get back to you.
